„A napóleoni háborúk idejéből, 1805-ből származik a császári-királyi 12. számú Nádor huszárezred indulója. Az indulót az ezred parancsnoka, (vindornyalaki és hertelendi) Hertelendy Gábor ezredes (1742 -- 1820) komponálta, ezért Hertelendy indulóként is ismert. Az indulódal a Mária Terézia renddel kitüntetett Hertelendy ezredes híres ulmi fegyvertényét örökíti meg. At 1805-i francia-osztrák háború egyetlen sikeres haditettét ő hajtotta végre. Napoleon a francia hadsereggel 1805. október 18-án fegyverletételre szólította fel a dunamenti Ulm városában körülzárt és Mack altábornagy parancsnoksága alatt álló 50 ezer főből álló osztrák fősereget. Hertelendy ezredes az ostromgyűrűn 12 századdal áttört és 10 nap alatt elérte a csehországi Eger városát. A csatában résztvevő Ferdinánd főherceg közhuszári egyenruhában menekült Hertelendy huszárainak oltalma alatt. A hadtörténelemben a mai napig számontartott fegyvertényért nyerte el az ezredparancsnok a Mária Terézia rendet. Hangvétele alapján ez az induló tekinthető a legősibb magyar lovasindulónak. Az 1801-ben felállított 12. számú Nádor huszárezrednek tulajdonosa Magyarország mindenkori nádora volt. 1806-ban József főherceg volt a nádor és egyben az ezredtulajdonos, aki -- az ezredtörténet adatai szerint -- ekkor ezüstből készített fúvószenekari felszerelést ajándékozott az ezrednek. Valószínű, hogy a zenekart ekkor szervezték meg. Az induló később feledésbe merült, így nincs róla adat, hogy az 1848-as szabadságharc idején játszották volna. Sőt, az 1897-es történelmi indulógyűjteményben sem szerepel. Az 1860-as években Mosonyi Mihály feldolgozta az indulót. Az eredeti lovaszenekari C-dúrból A-dúrba transzponálta és triót szerzett hozzá. Az eredeti formában a Magyar Tudományos Akadémia Zenetudományi Intézet Major Ervin hagyatékában található meg több kéziratos népdalfeldolgozás és indulótöredék között."
