A federal judge in Oregon has dismissed the Justice Department’s voter-data lawsuit, ruling that the laws DOJ relied on do not authorize its sweeping request for unredacted voter-registration information.
The court went further — saying DOJ’s conduct raised "suspicions" and warning that creation of a nationwide voter database could be “chilling.”
Because similar lawsuits have been filed in multiple states, this decision may have implications beyond Oregon.
