Your brain's ability to know where your body is in space and time is called proprioception. It's the sense that provides information about the position and movement of your body and its limbs, allowing for conscious and unconscious control of movement and balance. It involves the perception of sensory input from within the body, rather than from the outside.
Some neurodivergent individuals, such as those with autism or sensory processing disorder, may have difficulties with proprioception due to differences in the way their nervous system processes and interprets sensory information. This can result in difficulties with body awareness, balance, coordination, and spatial awareness.
Being "clumsy" doesn't necessarily mean you're part of the neurodivergent population, but when combined with other clues, it can be an important indicator.
