"Journey 2 the Light" is Mark's album for boutique Japanese label Freedom School released in 2007. The label invited Mark to create his vision of a spiritual jazz album. Since cementing their collaborative relationship on 2005's "Tide's Arising", Bembe Segue and Mark had become regular collaborators and their chemistry together is a large part of the spirit of this album - also featuring Richard Spaven, Sammy Figueroa, Jason Yarde and guest flute from Joni Love. An undiscovered gem of an album that provides an interesting preview to what was to come a decade later with Mark's jazz projects coming out of his LA homebase.
