After writing out your food preferences, the next step is getting into the habit of writing grocery shopping lists.
You might say, "I don't like writing grocery shopping lists..." Well.. politely... that's likely why you struggle stay on track with your nutrition.
I know, because the clients I work with who track their nutrition, fill out the food preference form and write grocery shopping lists get results.
The clients who don't put time & effort into planning don't get results. They sound like broken records, "I got off track this week, but I'm going to eat better this week."
Then I ask them, "what's your plan for eating better this week?"
*crickets*
People, have a plan. You'll get results. It's that simple.
Going to the grocery store without a list is a sure-fire way to forget things and buy other things that... don't align with your goals.
One of my favorite sayings is "a goal with out a plan is a wish"... this applies to your nutritional goals.
Saying "I'm going to eat better" means nothing if you don't have a plan for executing it.
