Flooding can happen even on clear, sunny days — this is called tidal flooding, also known as king tide or sunny day flooding.
Recently, the Government of Kerala declared tidal flooding a state-specific disaster. It occurs when very high tides during full or new moon phases, combined with strong winds and sea conditions, temporarily submerge low-lying coastal areas. Unlike cyclones, it can happen even without rainfall — sometimes twice a day.
Kerala has now decided to provide financial assistance from the State Disaster Response Fund to affected people, becoming the first state in India to classify it separately.

Now tell us — how many times can tidal flooding occur in a day? 👇
