চন্দননগরের প্রতিটি পাড়ার ক্লাব ও সংগঠন নিজস্ব আলোকসজ্জা ও থিমযুক্ত প্রতিমা নিয়ে এই শোভাযাত্রায় অংশ নেয়।

বিদ্যুতের আলোকসজ্জা ও লাইট শো চন্দননগরের প্রধান আকর্ষণ — পুরো শহর আলোর সাজে ঝলমল করে ওঠে।

শোভাযাত্রায় বাজে ঢাক, কাঁসর, শঙ্খধ্বনি, সঙ্গে থাকে নানা ধরনের আলোকিত ট্যাবলো ও শিল্পী দল।

প্রতিমাগুলি ট্রাকে বা বিশেষ সাজানো প্ল্যাটফর্মে তুলে চন্দননগর ঘাট বা হুগলি নদীর তীরে নিয়ে যাওয়া হয়, যেখানে মা জগদ্ধাত্রীকে গঙ্গার জলে বিসর্জন দেওয়া হয়।

এই শোভাযাত্রা দেখতে হাজার হাজার দর্শনার্থী চন্দননগরে ভিড় জমায়, বিশেষত স্টেশন রোড, স্ট্র্যান্ড রোড ও গিরিশ ঘোষ স্ট্রিটে।

The immersion and grand procession (sovajatra) of Maa Jagadhatri in Chandannagar is one of the most spectacular and traditional events of the city.

In Chandannagar, the Jagadhatri Puja concludes with a magnificent procession and immersion ceremony on the banks of the River Ganga. This grand event usually takes place the day after Purnima (full moon) and continues from evening till late at night.

Every neighborhood club and puja committee participates with beautifully decorated idols and themed light displays.

The most striking feature is the extraordinary illumination and light show — Chandannagar glows like a city of lights during this time.

The streets echo with the beats of dhak (drums), conch shells, and traditional music, accompanied by dazzling tableaux and performers.

The idols are carried on trucks or specially decorated platforms through the main roads and finally to the Chandannagar Ghat on the Hooghly River, where the goddess is immersed in the holy waters.

Thousands of devotees and visitors gather to witness this breathtaking sight, especially along Strand Road, Station Road, and Girish Ghosh Street.
