0 Kelvin (K) = -273.15°C = -459.67°F
Why It’s the Lowest:
At absolute zero, a system has no thermal energy, and all classical motion stops. Quantum mechanically, some zero-point energy still exists, but no energy can be extracted from the system.
Achieved So Far:
Scientists at MIT in 2019 created a cloud of sodium-potassium (NaK) molecules at around 500 nanokelvin (nK) — that’s 0.0000005 K above absolute zero.
