1: Bird of paradise plants love to be pot bound and I have found that when the bird of paradise are bursting out of their pots that's the time the bird of paradise will have more flowers.

Hold back on that urge to repot your bird of paradise when you see your pot splitting or the bird of paradise sending the root ball upwards out of the pot because that's what you want for your bird of paradise plant to flower.

If you do re-pot your bird of paradise to a larger pot you will miss one or two years of that bird of paradise flowering.

2: Bird of paradise plants hate the cold and if they ever get a touch of frost it could either kill the bird of paradise plant or at least stop the bird of paradise plant from flowering the following season.

We take our bird of paradise plants inside mid-October before the first frosts arrive and bring them back outdoors mid-May once the danger of frost are over.

3: A bird of paradise plant thrives being watered well.

During the winter months, we only water our bird of paradise plant once per month but as soon as it returns outside we water our bird of paradise plants every other day and in hot weather every day.

4: Bird of paradise plants are very hungry plants and do well with regular feeding so once again when our bird of paradise plants are outside in the garden we feed our bird of paradise once per week with a standard liquid plant food.
