Every Hemi owner lives in fear, or at least apprehension about the famous Hemi tick. What can we do to prevent it? That's the question everyone wants to know. As a Dodge tech for over 12 years now, I've seen and heard every theory under the sun about how to fix this. In my mind, due to the fact that most of the vehicles we see with failed lifters have extended idle times, this means that the sustained engine operation at the lowest RPM, and therefore the lowest oil pressure, seems to play a major part. My goal in this video and the next is to try to combat that problem by installing a Hellcat High Volume oil pump onto a stock 5.7 Hemi and see what the difference truly is. In this video specifically we cover the differences between the stock 5.7 pump on both the early and late model Gen 3 engine, and we discuss how to adapt them.
