As performances and seasons are being cancelled all over the world, COVID-19 is taking away more than just time in the studio or on stage. For many dancers the pandemic is stealing closure. Whether it was your senior showcase, the last year with a school or company, or the final curtain call on a long career, it is hard to feel that things are left unfinished. How do you mourn this loss and move forward?
This town hall is a discussion moderated by Minding the Gap founder Kathleen McGuire Gaines with Dr. Leigh Skvarla a former dancer and National Certified Counselor working with dancers and athletes in Pittsburgh, PA, and Margaret Mullin, a soloist with Pacific Northwest Ballet who is preparing to leave the company after 12 years dancing there.
Be sure to check out Margaret's dance for joy song: Into the Blue by Kylie Minogue.
