A walkthrough of "Hagoromo" (羽衣), an awesome accommodation at Asaba Ryokan (あさば), an iconic luxury ryokan with a 545 year history that's located in the Shuzenji (修善寺) area of the Izu Peninsula, Shizuoka Prefecture, Japan. The 126m² suite was newly rebuilt in the Spring of 2023 (along with Asagi and Moegi), and is the room to get if you're seeking a bird's-eye view of the beautiful pond and Noh Stage (能舞台.)
During the renovation, Asaba reduced the total room count from 16 to 12, with the big beneficiary being Hagoromo - three (small) rooms were turned into one large Suite that features an open-air Onsen bath with a view... while the previous three rooms had the same direct view of the Noh stage, they were tiny and did not have an Onsen bath or shower. Now, all rooms at Asaba have the amenities that travelers to this luxury ryokan expects.
If you're visiting during a performance (which occurs roughly a dozen days a year), Hagoromo is the one to get... you can enjoy the festivities from the comfort of your own room at ground level.
