Note on posture, gaze, and movements of the eyes and head
In traditional Zen seated meditation, the eyes are lowered toward the floor, resting on a point roughly 60–120 cm in front of the body, with the chin slightly tucked. A clear description of this posture can be found in the sitting-meditation instructions from Zen Mountain Monastery in the United States:

Many meditation resources also emphasize that the eyes should not stare rigidly, and that natural blinking as needed is both normal and encouraged. For example, the “Meditation Posture” guide from Samye Ling Tibetan Centre in the UK notes that “it is alright to blink so as to irrigate the eyes.”

I have not been ordained in, nor do I formally belong to, any specific religious tradition. The guidance offered in this video is not intended as a religious ritual, but as a secular (non-religious) meditation practice centered on body and breath. For posture and gaze, I simply draw on long-standing sitting-meditation traditions.
I usually begin meditation with my eyes closed, but about 5–10 minutes after the start of practice, my eyes naturally open slightly on their own, without deliberate effort. From that point on, my eyes remain slightly open, with natural blinking occurring throughout the session.
The posture shown in the video, the very slow forward-and-back movement of the head, and this natural blinking all arise on their own, without being intentionally produced. These movements are not signs of drowsiness; they appear while the spine remains upright and the breath and awareness are clear, as attention turns inward. For me, these phenomena are nothing more than passing clouds — they naturally come and go on their own and do not need to be controlled or corrected. Due to a minor old injury in my right leg, I sometimes switch the crossing of my legs once or twice during a 100-minute sit to protect the joint. I remain seated for the full 100 minutes without leaving the cushion or interrupting the practice, and my attention stays fully engaged throughout. This video documents my personal daily practice. It is not an instructional video and does not require imitation.
