Welcome our channel
In this video, we will discuss How to define stock keeping units
Business central.
Stockkeeping Units define for using items Variants.
In Business Central, I can define different locations to work on.
A location is typically a geographically defined spot where we store our items.
defining different location has different purposes.
Now In search bar enter locations & select it.
In the location list, I can see the locations that I have set up.
And one of the purposes for defining a specific location is that I want to plan specifically on that location with different planning parameters, and the ability to see item availability on that location compared to other locations.
Another purpose is if I want to manage the item Variants by color on the specific location.
So in this video, I will give you examples of those two purposes.
So, I will go into the stock keeping units (SKU).
In search bar enter stockkeeping units & select.
the SKU is basically an item defined on a specific location.
So, Here we have two SKU’s with same item no “1001” Which is Nike Shoes with different variants.
this variant with black color are located in location “East”
and other one Red color shoes are located in location “MAIN”
For instance,
Let’s make the another stock keeping unit for variant white color shoes
Click New, Enter the item no. 1001
select the location MIAN-2 from the location code
Now select the variant code “In this case I will select white”
Here is another purpose that we cloud define items Planning per location in stock keeping unit card.
On item Planning
Maybe in this case, I don’t want to reorder it as an order policy, but maybe as a fixed reorder quantity with reorder point and safety stock on this specific location.
So now on this stock keeping unit it deferred from my normal item, and the other stock keeping unit for that item.
So, going back to the list, I can see, I have three SKUs, And the other thing is that I can define costing per location as well.
