Arbeter Froyen (Worker Women) is based on a poem "Tsu Arbeter Froyen" written by Dovid Edelshtat (1866-1892), published 1891 - which acted as an appeal to proletariat women to join the struggle.
Detroit-born, Berlin-based singer/songwriter, polyglot poet, translator and activist Daniel Kahn, along with his band The Painted Bird presents a variety of passionate songs inspired in part by the struggles of Jewish revolutionaries at the turn of the century, and in part by his own intense desire for a better world. Daniel Kahn has featured many times in Bund celebrations - the Bund sponsored his tour down-unter and together with Psoy Korolenko - performed virtually (before it was a 'thing'!) at the Bund Yoyvl in 2017.
This year our Yoyvl was, for the first time, conducted entirely online. Join the Jewish Labour Bund in celebrating 123 years since its founding and celebrate the essential workers across the world who find themselves on the front line of the global pandemic.
