Equines used in sport often face significant animal welfare concerns, including overtraining, inappropriate housing, the use of harsh training methods or equipment, and the risk of injury or death during competition.
Intense physical demands can lead to chronic pain or long-term health problems, while the pressure to perform may result in practices that prioritise performance over the animal’s well-being.
Ensuring proper care, ethical training, and strict enforcement of welfare standards is essential to protect horses and other equines involved in sporting activities.
