The Nedbank Runified Breaking Barriers 50 km ultramarathon is happening at Nelson Mandela Bay today. Starting on Marine Drive, a host of top national and international elite athletes are going flat-out in the fast 10 km loop in their quest to break the existing 50 km World Athletics world records for the men and women categories, which is currently held by Irvette Van Zyl and Ketema Negasa.
World Athletics awarded Nedbank Runified Breaking Barriers 50 km ultramarathon a WA Elite label status – which made it the first and only ultramarathon event in the world to receive this status
