SYNOPSIS:
Lost and Found: A brief history of Manarolia is a short documentary about the journey of Manarolia, a unique legume native to Crete, which was nearly extinct. The film follows Panagiotis Magganas, a restaurateur and farmer, who leads the effort to revive this ancient legume.

The documentary details how Panagiotis discovered the last remaining seeds of Manarolia through research and a meeting with an elderly farmer in Lasithi. Despite its historical significance and nutritional value, Manarolia had faded into obscurity due to its association with periods of poverty.

The film captures the process of reviving the cultivation of Manaroli from the initial handful of seeds to a successful harvest. It also explores traditional recipes, uncovering distinct ways to prepare Manarolia, each with its own flavour profile.

The documentary highlights the importance of biodiversity, sustainable food practices, and preserving cultural heritage.
