Trauma, culture, and emotional avoidance play powerful roles in the development and maintenance of eating disorders and related mental health conditions. In this free live webinar, presented in collaboration with the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), experts explored how anxiety, depression, and trauma intersect with disordered eating across diverse cultural contexts. The discussion highlighted trauma-informed, culturally responsive strategies to address emotional avoidance, strengthen emotion tolerance, and improve outcomes in eating disorder and mental health care.
This session was moderated by Mollie Schlapp-Gilgoff, LMSW, and hosted by Paula Edwards-Gayfield, MA, LPCS, LPC, NCC, CEDS.
