Perched at 3,116 metres above sea level, Dochula Pass is home to the 108 Druk Wangyal Chortens and the striking Druk Wangyal Lhakhang, built by Her Majesty the Queen Mother Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck. This sacred site honours His Majesty the Fourth King, Jigme Singye Wangchuck, and the brave soldiers who defended Bhutan’s sovereignty during the 2003 military operations.

Each year on 13th December, Dochula transforms into a stage for the Druk Wangyel Festival—a powerful celebration of Bhutan’s national unity, spiritual heritage, and military courage. Though a relatively young tshechu, it stands out for its original choreography, elaborate costumes, and the rare fact that the masked dances are performed by soldiers.
