Curlsmith Strength Recipe Line Demo and Review: New Conditioner and Gel

Curlsmith recently came out with 3 new products: Core Strength Shampoo, Multi-tasking Conditioner, and Shape Up Aqua Gel. It was exciting to a lot of us that Curlsmith created a full line of products meant for damaged, weak and transitioning hair, a line that we could use from the start to the finish of our routine.

Unfortunately, I didn't have it in my budget to buy the shampoo. I'm sure it's a great shampoo, but $25 seemed like a lot to me for it and I couldn't justify it in my budget. Instead, I use the Wash & Scrub Detox Pro-biotic shampoo in my routine.

The rest of the routine, however, is entirely made up of all the other products from the strength recipe line. I start of with the Bond Curl Rehab Salve, letting this sit in my hair for 30 minutes, before moving on to the Wash & Scrub Detox Pro-biotic. After making sure my scalp is nice and clean, I use the Multi-tasking Conditioner as a deep conditioner. I leave this in my hair for 30 minutes before rinsing it most of the way, but not completely. I intended to leave enough in to use as a leave-in conditioner, but I accidentally washed too much out, so I added a little more back in. Then I followed up with the Feather-light Protein Cream. For hold, I did the gel-mousse-gel style, starting with the Shape Up Aqua Gel, then going in with the Bouncy Strength Volume Foam, and finally, after micro-plopping and plopping, I went back in with the Shape Up Aqua Gel. I diffused my hair, and scrunched out the crunch for some beautiful, shiny and defined waves and curls.

I really liked Curlsmith's new products. The multitasking conditioner was great because it allows for versatility of use. Being able to use it as a conditioner, a deep conditioner, or a leave in is great! I know I've used my deep conditioners more like conditioners in the past, but I don't leave them in my hair for styling, because they aren't meant for it. They'll weigh your hair down. But this conditioner is so lightweight, it wasn't a problem. My only complaint was that it is a bit smaller than I expected.

The Shape Up Aqua Gel was a good product as well. It is lighter hold and won't hold your style as long as a harder hold gel, but it has excellent slip and applies to the hair very easily. I think this is a good product, but I'm not the biggest fan of lighter hold gels. My hair doesn't last as long, even with great products like this. I would suggest giving it a try, but you may have to apply a bit more on refresh days.

Other than that, Curlsmith over all is a great company. Their products are all vegan, ethically sourced, and curly girl method approved. They are sulfate free, silicone free and paraben free. All of their products smell great and work well if your goal is healthy and shiny hair.

Lipstick:

The first lip color I used was one that is no longer in stock, which is fine because the color is good, but I hated it. It was sticky and uncomfortable. So for the final results I used a different lipstick
