Something I wanted to gently add to what I shared in the video; because this helped me sit with the text in a practical way.
When James talks about endurance, the word he uses is hypomonē. And it isn’t about sitting still, quietly tolerating pressure, or just surviving until things ease up. It’s more active than that. It’s the kind of endurance that keeps choosing obedience while the weight is still there. The kind that keeps you moving, even when the pace feels slower than you hoped.
That’s why endurance in Scripture is so often tied to motion. We’re told to run with endurance the race set before us (Hebrews 12:1). Paul can look back and say, I have finished the race (2 Timothy 4:7). And Jesus reminds us that the one who endures to the end will be saved (Matthew 24:13). Endurance is never pictured as stagnation; it’s faith staying in motion.
So endurance isn’t about being stuck. It’s about staying faithful while you’re still walking it out. It’s the stamina God builds in us so we can keep responding, keep trusting, and keep showing up—until we finish what He asked us to run.
🤍 If this met you right where you are, tell me; where are you learning endurance right now? Let’s talk in the comments.
