Considered a "sister" to Rome, Autun was miraculously built in just a few decades to replace the ancient, mythical capital of the Aedui: Bibracte. But the last mysteries of this city are only now being revealed. Like the recent exhumation of a vast necropolis, with 15 intact sarcophagi, skeletons and never before seen luxurious ornaments. Or the "Infernal puzzle of Autun,” 1200 fragments of a mysterious inscription found in the 19th century that researchers have finally decoded thanks to digital technology. So, how was this immense city built so fast? What technological challenges were surmounted to accomplish this feat of impossible urban engineering?
