Do you ever feel a pit in your stomach when the phone rings from an unknown number? You aren't alone—fear is the number one tool scammers use to trick our brains into making mistakes. They exploit "Truth Bias," which is our natural habit of wanting to believe what we hear, especially when we are stressed or tired. Because AI technology can now clone voices and create "deepfakes" that sound exactly like a bank official or a family member, it is easier than ever to feel overwhelmed.
Tech shouldn’t be confusing or stressful.
I help seniors use phones, TVs, computers, and smart devices safely — without frustration, scams, or jargon.

In this video, we go step-by-step to show you exactly how scammers use psychological tactics to bypass your defenses and how you can protect your life savings.
How to Stay Safe (Step-by-Step Guide):
• Step 1: The 'Breathe' Rule. Scammers will try to create a state of "legitimate urgency" to make you act before you can think. If they tell you to "Hurry up" or that you'll "lose everything" in 10 minutes, hang up.
• Step 2: Spot the 'Authority' Trap. Just because someone provides a "badge number" or says they are from the IRS or Social Security Administration does not mean they are real. Real government agencies will never ask you to send money or gift cards over the phone to "protect" your accounts.
• Step 3: Break the Silence. Scammers use "legitimate secrecy" to keep you from talking to friends or family who might notice the lie. If a caller tells you to keep the conversation a "top secret," it is a major warning sign.
• Step 4: The 'Take Five' Method. Stop and think for five minutes. A genuine organization will never force you to make a financial transaction on the spot.
• Step 5: Verify the Source. If you are worried, hang up and call the organization back using a number you know is real, such as the one on the back of your physical bank card.
Today, we're diving into the escalating war against AI-powered scams, a new battleground fought with algorithms and data. We highlight a staggering 2,100% surge in deepfake voice scams, which are far more sophisticated than traditional online scams. This video explores methods of fighting back and discusses the future of security, combining technology like ASRJam with regulation for effective scam prevention.
