As part of our Creative Spark series of policy discussion programme, we have organised a live webinar on the topic of Women and girls empowerment in creative entrepreneurial education'.
The webinar is a joint event of the British Council, El-Yurt Umidi, Ministry of higher and secondary specialized education of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Higher Education Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It will bring together Higher Education professionals from the UK and Uzbekistan so we can exchange knowledge and ideas.
Further enhancement of the role of women in the social and political life, support of the entrepreneurial initiatives, providing women and girls with necessary skills and professions are among the key priorities of the national reforms in the Republic of Uzbekistan. Gender equality is one of the UN's 17 Sustainable Development Goals. Gender parity and women and girls empowerment are also one of the fundamental principles and a cross cutting theme of the British Council’s programmes in Uzbekistan. We believe that achieving better gender equality is crucial to creating inclusive, open and prosperous societies. We contribute to this agenda by creating opportunities for dialogue to influence educational reforms that benefit women and girls; work with partners to promote access and opportunity for women and girls and build the skills and confidence of women and girls to achieve their potential and have more influence over decisions that affect their lives.
The objective of the webinar were:
to unpack key approaches to develop the culture in HE institutions that empowers women and girls
to discuss underlying stereotypes and pre-conceptions and how to deal with them
to discuss how to inspire and prepare girls and women to get leadership positions in academic, research and business world
to discuss how education and business sector can collaborate to develop the right attitudes and behaviours and contribute to talent management
to discuss what needs to be done at macro-level to empower girls and women
We were happy to invite the following speakers to the event:
Dilorom Fayzieva, the committee of international affairs and inter-parliamentary relations
