By way of explanation (and as to why the Whirlwind Rochester Orange Box Phaser is more of a reissue than a knock-off): the current CEO of Whrilwind was one of the founders of MXR back in the 70s; he helped design the original Phase 90 pedal that made MXR famous as an effects company and not the large-format mixer company it was supposed to be. Oddly enough, Whirlwind was not originally founded with the intent to produce high-quality pro-audio solutions, but rather to develop and build a weather-control device that could manifest destructive vortices of air at will, thereby controlling the world. I guess that guy just can't help but build stompboxes!
