Daily Mass Readings and Gospel Reflection for Thursday, June 4, 2026 | Ninth Week in Ordinary Time
In today’s Gospel, after many tense disputes in Jerusalem, a scribe comes to Jesus with a sincere question: “Which commandment is the first of all?” Jesus brings him to the heart of revelation: love the Lord your God with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength, and love your neighbor as yourself. This reflection invites us to see that love of God and love of neighbor are inseparable, like the two beams of the Cross. Worship, sacrifice, prayer, and mission lose their soul if they are separated from love. To understand the greatest commandment is already to be near the Kingdom; but to enter it, we must allow Christ’s love to transform our choices, relationships, service, and daily life.
