Southeast Bangladesh and northwest Myanmar are divided by the Naf River, an international river. The highest depth of the Naf River is 400 feet, and the average depth is 128 feet (39 meters) (120 m). The range of its width is 1.61 to 3.22 kilometers.
Between the Bangladeshi Cox's Bazar District of the Chittagong Division and the Burmese Rakhine State, it empties into the Bay of Bengal in the Indian Ocean.
At one point in time, Shahpuree Island, which is situated at the river's mouth, was a significant territorial player. It is regarded as one of the primary causes of the initial Anglo-Burmese War. The mouth of the river also includes St. Martin's Island.
