WRGB 11pm Newscast (July 25, 2009; A Block)

Описание: The first block of the 11:00 newscast on CBS affiliate WRGB (channel 6) in Schenectady, New York, serving the Capital Region. This was the weekend edition of the program.

Craig Smith is the news anchor, with Eric Torreson (I think that's how you spell his name) doing "First Weather." Smith does all the news reports, and by god he is not animated in the slightest. It's the weekend show though, so I shouldn't expect much. Just the kind of news that puts any viewer to sleep! He's not Heather Kovar levels by any means though, who by the way now works at WRGB's sister station in Bryan, TX.

In the news, Elton John and Billy Joel's tag-team concert was postponed, a motorcycle vigil is held in Pittsfield for an abused child who died 19 years ago, Massachusetts starts up a new tax rate for August, parts of Lake George close due to an E. coli outbreak, and Pres. Obama speaks on healthcare reform. Plus as an added bonus, a "Fact Finder" promo bookends this video.

WRGB would cold open its newscasts for the 11pm edition during the first decade or so as "CBS6." At this point, one year after going high definition, the opens would show a rundown of three top stories later in the newscast. I don't think they do that anymore for the 11pm, I know the other slots have news opens.

WRGB was also on year 6 of using "Impact" by 615 Music, and for a while was using Gannett/Tegna voiceover Lisa Malay for its opens and promos. Speaking of VOs, longtime WLS VO Ron Rolland died this week. RIP.
