This year we brought five of the most promising and exciting newcomers of Reeperbahn Festival 2022 on stage in a unique setting: at the Xessions at resonanzraum we experienced the selected acts in an intimate atmosphere - and not only that: the shows were professionally recorded with a 360-degree stagescape and because of this impressive mediaproduction we’re now able to rewatch the artists performance right here on YouTube!

Roasting their very own fans, along with the people that happen to be in the crosshairs of their lyrics – this has been a matter of pride for Joe & The Shitboys since 2019. The Faroe Islands four-piece’s first album “The Reason for Hardcore Vibes” already demonstrated their ability to perfectly keep their balance on the tightrope between self-irony and biting sarcasm, but they jump off the rope on purpose when they feel like it. Their songs rarely break the two-minute-mark and are so snotty and raw that both old and new garage punk will become an immediate reality to you. The follow-up to their debut underlines this with a laconic no-fucks-given attitude that might’ve earned the band a certain amount of disdain in their conservative northern homeland, but which also makes it all the more necessary for the same reason – at a small basement gig or on a big festival stage.

Reeperbahn Festival is the biggest club festival in Europe and the largest European platform for international pop culture and the music industry. Since 2006, for four days each September the Reeperbahn in Hamburg, Germany has become the center of the international music world and a sustainable interface between artists, the public, industry representatives and society. The Conference program is aimed at professional visitors from all segments of the music industry from around the world.

In diesem Jahr haben wir fünf der vielversprechendsten und spannendsten Newcomer*innen des Reeperbahn Festivals 2022 in einzigartigem Rahmen auf die Bühne geholt: Bei den Xessions im resonanzraum konntet ihr die ausgewählten Acts vor kleinem Publikum in intimer Atmosphäre erleben – und nicht nur das: Die Shows wurden mit einem 360-Grad-Bühnenbild professionell aufgezeichnet und dank dieser aufwändigen Medienproduktion können wir die Performance der Künstler*innen hier auf YouTube nochmal erleben!

Die eigenen Fans ebenso roasten wie jene Menschen, die sie in ihren Texten gerne aufs Korn nehmen – das ist seit 2019 Ehrensache für Joe & The Shitboys. Das Quartett von den Färöer-Inseln hat schon mit dem ersten Album „The Reson For Hardcore Vibes“ gezeigt, dass sie den Drahtseilakt zwischen Selbstironie und beißendem Sarkasmus gemeistert haben, aber auch immer wieder gerne freiwillig von der Leine hüpfen.

Seit dem Debüt im Jahr 2006 hat sich das Reeperbahn Festival zu einem der wichtigsten Treffpunkte für die Musikwelt entwickelt und zeigt, wie sich ein überbordendes musikalisches Line-Up mit musikwirtschaftlichen Interessen und zivilgesellschaftlichem Engagement verbinden lässt.

Unsere Festivals finden im Zeichen des Miteinanders statt – Rassismus, Sexismus, Homophobie und Ausgrenzung finden bei uns keinen Platz.
