Fringed Tulip Crystal Beauty - when colour and shape combine for a gorgeous red tulip

Описание: Crystal Beauty is a stunning tulip, characterized by unusual fringed tepals and a very bright red colour, contrasting with the black blotch at the centre of the flower, edged by a very narrow yellow margin. The colour is in my opinion very similar to another one of my favourite tulips, Apeldoorn ( video about Apeldoorn is available here    • Tulip Apeldoorn, the most famous classic r...   ), but the fringed tepals of Crystal Beauty add, in my opinion, such an unusual feature that make people stop looking at it in order to have time to appreciate the very fine details of the tepal shape, or even touching it to get a tactile feeling of such an unusual feature.
Tulip Crystal Beauty is hardy in USDA 4 to 8 and the bulbs need to be planted in autumn, about 10-15 cm deep in well drained soil, ideally in full sun. The leaves start growing in late autumn - winter and this variety will bloom in early to mid-spring (usually in April in the UK). Like all tulips, the leaves die down in late spring - early summer, when the plant goes dormant, until autumn.
