Scott Barnes and Bill Paynter took the mighty Peugeot 106 Rallye to a jaw-dropping 9th overall in Oostrozebeke, Belgium — competing with modern Rally2 machinery and GT3 Porsches in a true David vs Goliath performance.

This video captures the full story from recce to final stage, as the team battle changing weather, tight tarmac roads, and fierce competition in the Flanders International Rally Challenge. From bold tyre choices to full-send driving, this is one for the rally purists and French hot hatchback lovers alike. From wet-weather tyre gambles to dry tarmac attacks, Scott and Bill delivered an outstanding drive in ever-changing conditions. With precise pacenotes, fast decision-making, and serious commitment, the Peugeot stormed through the stages — ending the day just 1.9 seconds behind a Citroën C3 Rally2.

Despite stage cancellations and weather chaos, the 106 never missed a beat. After switching to slicks for the drying roads, the car kept pushing, finishing with the seventh fastest time overall on the final stage. The team claimed 1st in Class 3F, 2nd overall in the FIRC standings, 1st 2WD, and 9th overall — even finishing ahead of Belgian legend Paul Lietaer. Not bad for a home-built 1600cc hatchback!
