Taking a Shot at Love is a great Hallmark movie to kick off 2021. First of all, the casting is a great, we have Luke Macfarlane and Alexa PenaVega, both of which are fantastic in this movie. Luke plays an injured hockey player while Alexa plays a ballet instructor. Besides casting, the storytelling is pretty good too, a story about a ballet dancer helping an injured hockey player get back in the game is not something you would expect from a typical Hallmark movie, so it is quite a pleasant surprise.
It is not perfect, I really wished Luke can actually skate a little, because there are some sequences in the movie where you can tell it is not him and the cut between the scenes is a bit unnatural. But overall, a very entertaining and yet emotional movie to watch in 2021.
