Owning nearly 100,000 bighas of land, they were among the most powerful families in the region. After the Partition, they migrated to Pakistan, where their legacy still continues in Lahore through their descendants.

ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੀ ਧਰਤੀ ਨੇ 1947 ਦੀ ਵੰਡ ਵੇਲੇ ਇਨਸਾਨੀ ਦਰਦ ਦੇ ਅਜਿਹੇ ਪਲ ਵੇਖੇ ਜੋ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਦਿਲ ਨੂੰ ਹਿਲਾ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚੋਂ ਇੱਕ ਪਿੰਡ ਹੈ ਘੇਲ, ਜੋ ਅੱਜ ਫਤਿਹਗੜ੍ਹ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਜ਼ਿਲ੍ਹੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਕਦੇ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਰਿਆਸਤ ਦਾ ਅਹੰਮ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਸੀ। ਵੰਡ ਤੋਂ ਪਹਿਲਾਂ ਇਹ ਪਿੰਡ ਕਸਾਨਾ ਗੋਤ ਦੇ ਧੰਨਵਾਨ ਮੁਸਲਮਾਨ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਾਂ ਦਾ ਗੜ੍ਹ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਮਹਾਰਾਜਾ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੇ ਬਹੁਤ ਹੀ ਭਰੋਸੇਮੰਦ ਲੋਕ ਸਨ।

ਸਰਦਾਰ ਮੁਹੰਮਦ ਫਜ਼ਲ, ਉਸਦੇ ਪੁੱਤਰ ਕਰੀਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ (ਫੌਜੀ ਅਧਿਕਾਰੀ) ਅਤੇ ਰਹੀਮ ਬਖ਼ਸ਼ (ਖ਼ਜ਼ਾਨੇ ਦੇ ਇੰਚਾਰਜ) — ਇਹ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਰਾਜਸੀ ਪੱਧਰ 'ਤੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਰੱਖਦਾ ਸੀ। ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕੋਲ ਲਗਭਗ 1 ਲੱਖ ਵੀਘੇ ਦੀ ਜ਼ਮੀਨ ਸੀ। ਵੰਡ ਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਦੀ ਰਾਹੀ ਰਾਜਨੀਤੀ ਕੀਤੀ ਤੇ ਉੱਥੇ ਵੀ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਪਛਾਣ ਕਾਇਮ ਰੱਖੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਵਾਰਿਸ ਅੱਜ ਵੀ ਲਾਹੌਰ 'ਚ ਵਸਦੇ ਹਨ।
