Back to work on transforming the front and side walls of the house after the Christmas Holiday break. Although after the Three Kings bank holiday it was only a three day working week.
The team were quick to get back into the rhythm of their work. On fhe front wall they continued to build up the façade with stones and lime mortar. This required plenty of patience as they had to keep picking out appropriate stones and to start doing everything from higher levels as they progressed. On the side wall they continued with the rebuilding of the wall corner. To start with they completed a section that we had left cleared over the break. Then they moved to the next level down, continuing to use carefully selected and shaped corner stones. The scaffolding on the side wall was taken down in preparation for changes next week and this enabled another level at the base to be repaired.
While the team worked hard on the walls I carried out various preparatory and tidying up tasks. One series of tasks related to sections of the wall that the team are due to repair next. While making some checks I made yet another surprising discovery. Investigating this took up a fair amount of time from then on. Another set of tasks related to level checks for upcoming work that required an earlier start than usual.
Also included is a glimpse of a Three Kings parade that included showers of sweets!

about my channel and its videos
- - - -
My channel is about the renovation and restoration of an old stone house on a hill in Catalunya (North East of Spain). The house is near the Costa Brava and has magnificent views of the forest around it and the Mediterranean Sea.
The house has many beautiful old features, including its stone walls, vaulted ceilings, ancient terracotta tiles and many quirky parts added over the centuries. At the moment, I am working on the house on my own as I try to turn it into a dream home in harmony with the nature and culture that surrounds it.
The house is not in France or Italy and is not a Chateau or Cabin, but I watch and am inspired by channels that are. Especially Martijn Doolaard and Dan Preston's Escape to Rural France. I love Martijn's style, philosophy and cinematography and Dan's energy, humour and ambition. I'm trying to include some of these attributes in my videos.
