We often get asked about differing rep ranges in our Power Happens programs. Hailey sat down with Stacy to answer this question.
Women can benefit from all rep ranges. We can all benefit from spending some time in lower reps and power based movements as research shows us that we lose power first and strength second. However, it's not the only rep range we want to live in year round. Good programming requires intelligent periodization where we change the rep ranges and the stimulus to allow the body to keep adapting under load.
For those women newer to progressive strength training, you need to build a solid foundation before moving into heavier loads and lower reps. This takes somewhere between 9-12 months for most women. Do not rush this phase as the tendons and ligaments need more time than the muscles to adapt.
