This happens every time this hedge trimmer is cold. Just leave the hedge trimmer on idle for a 5 minutes until it warms up to clear. Apparently this is the standard process to start this model of hedge trimmer. Husqvarna Ireland support agent & Husqvarna dealer & shop mechanic all agree that there is no fault. I feel that I was fobbed off by Husqvarna Ireland.

History

This hedge trimmer is not even a year old and only used less than 10 hours. Stored away from October to April this year. The fuel was drained from the tank and machine was ran dry before storage last year. I brought it back to the Husqvarna dealer two times. The primmer bulb was replaced as it was leaking.

This fault never happen before. Last year the Hedge trimmer started without any problems and worked perfectly. I have used other 2 strokes machines and never experienced this kind of fault before. I never have to leave them on idle before use.

I have checked the fuel lines & filter and used difference fuel mix but there is no differences. When the hedge trimmer is warmed it works fine. The choke and air filter were checked. The fuel tank cap is venting. Spark plug replaced.

Hopefully this fault dose not develop into a more serious problem. In the meantime I will leave the machine in idle for 5 mins.

If the fault escalates, there are two options available

1 Rebuild the carburetor with a new kit.
2 Replace the Walbro WYA 104 013 carburetor.

One of those solutions may clear the fault.

Now the the symptoms have changed from cold start, it happens when the machine is warm. This is intermittent.

Used this hedge trimmer today outdoor temperature 16 Celsius. Same issues when starting. Used for 30 minutes. Then turn off for 10 minutes tried starting again same symptoms again.

Still same fault cleaned the carburetor no blocked jets or ports. Needle and metering diaphragm looks fine. Main fuel screen is clean.

Just an update. No reply from Husqvarna to date. It appears I will have to purchase a new carburetor myself. Its the end of the road for me on this case I will pass it on to my friend who is more versed on the law in these matters so that costs of the repairs & solicitors fees are redeemed.

This hedge trimmer is now in storage as its inadequate and useless. I have gone back to my old hedge trimmer.

The Service Manager for Husqvarna has request the hedge trimmer for examination and report. The machine will be sent to them.

I was advised that hedge trimmer was fixed but now its gone missing and was not delivered back to the shop I arranged the pick up. Husqvarna Ireland and their Irish Distributors need to sort this out ASAP. Shop promised a call back on the 25/07/2014 but no call. I have now decided not to wait any longer. I want a full refund as well as the costs I had to incur during this debacle.

Finally got the hedge trimmer back today. It started from cold within 15 - 20 seconds. Will see in the next few days if its able for a few kilometers of clearing along an overgrown area. The Carburetor was replaced. Many thanks to the Irish distributors who fixed the fault. Its taken nearly 3 months to get this sorted. This is my final update. New Carburetor number is WYA 104 307.
