Gold Rush Hits Mufumbwe Site

Thousands of gold diggers have besieged Mufumbwe District in North Western Province which is now the new gold rush site.
The site which is about 40 Kilometers off the Solwezi - Mufumbwe road has attracted people from many parts of the country.
However their activities were disrupted Saturday morning by police officers who ordered them to pack and leave the area.
A ZNBC news crew which visited the area found the gold diggers leaving; some on foot, while others boarded whichever transportation was available.
They have pleaded with government to give them some time to conduct their mining activities while others want to be given artisanal licenses to stay in the area and continue mining.
Mufumbwe District Commissioner ELIJAH MUNYOMPE says government wills not allow disorder and had to move in before lives are lost.
