Hazardous substance found in Loughborough business premises
Leicestershire Police have revealed the incident on Baxter Gate centres on reports of a potentially hazardous substance found inside business premises.
Officers were called shortly after 1pm following the report. The premises involved, along with a number of nearby businesses, have been evacuated as a precaution while emergency services deal with the incident.
Road closures are also in place in the area alongside the cordon, which police say has been put in place to keep the public safe. Leicestershire Police said officers are working alongside colleagues from Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service and East Midlands Ambulance Service to carry out further enquiries.

Following initial testing, we can confirm that a substance found inside business premises in Baxter Gate is not believed to be hazardous.
Further tests will be undertaken in due course, but the substance is believed to be salt and the call was made with good intent.
Cordons and road closures which were put in place to keep the public safe have since been lifted.
We would like to thank everyone for their co-operation and understanding during the emergency services response to the report.

A 29-year-old man has been arrested following an incident in Baxter Gate in Loughborough yesterday (Wednesday 11 February).
The man, who has since been released on bail, was arrested last night on suspicion of communicating information regarding a noxious substance - hoax and sending a letter/communication/article conveying an indecent/offensive message.
Emergency services were called to a restaurant shortly after 1pm following a report a potentially hazardous substance had been found inside. It was also reported a phone call had been made to the business telling staff they must evacuate the premises.
Following initial testing, it the substance was believed to be salt.
An investigation into the incident is continuing. We would ask for anyone with information to contact police by calling 101 and quoting reference 26*84012.
