A week after hearing hours of public comment, the Frederick County Council approved a zoning plan Tuesday night that could pave the way for more data centers to be built.
By a 5-2 vote, members approved a proposal that allows for data centers to be built on a little more than 2,600 acres of land in the rural part of the Maryland county, which is double the size of the current data center campus where an aluminum smelting plant once stood.
