This is a really simple way to mic and get a good sound from a cajon. Most churches with sound systems will have an SM57 (or SM58, E835, V7, etc) around, and this gets results that are consistent and quite usable.
Are there better cajon sounds out there with different mic setups? For sure. But this is my go-to method for live micing, and it's worked well every time I've used it.
Hopefully this helps someone get a sound that helps lead people in musical worship of our King. Let me know if you have any questions, I'll be happy to expand on ideas, and may even make a longer form video at some point walking through the concepts here a little slower. For the time being, it's been too long since I uploaded last and I wanted to get the gist of this method (which is what is used for all of my videos) out there.
