The student will exhibit knowledge of the procedures involved in cross-country planning, filing IFR flight plans, and obtaining IFR clearances.
Demonstrate a basic understanding of the various simulated emergency procedures.
Objective : Introduce the student to IFR flight planning applications by conducting an IFR cross-country over 50 nautical miles from the original point of departure, becoming familiar with IFR departure, enroute, and arrival procedures.
Review the appropriate emergency procedures for enroute IFR operations.
Comments : RNAV 32 KCRG, ILS 7L KDAB
Preflight action
CRG airport diagram not obtained
Was not familiar with the CRG approach charts
Did not know CRG VOR inop
Did not change the minimums for the approaches per NOTAM
AP usage
Gets distracted, lets AP do everything and forgets to adjust the throttle
Especially during level off from descent and climbs, keeps level flight at either 1800RPM or 2600RPM
STOP TURNING THE KNOBS WITHOUT CHECKING THEM
Continuously turns a wrong knob, turn the volume knob for CDI, turn turns baro for heading, etc
Called wrong callsign multiple times
The aircraft was BPX207, but SP said BPX270, BPX202 or just 207
