The glacial melt rivers in Iceland form beautiful brad patterns throughout the landscape as they carve a path to the ocean. Water from melting glaciers and rainfall collect sediment from the land which makes the water colorful. Additionally, the water ebbs and flows which creates small islands in the black sand river beds. This created intricate pattens which look like veins running through the landscape when viewed from above.
These rivers have been one of my favorite subjects for years, and I have photographed them from an airplane, as well as with a drone. I decided to video these images to show what they look like when viewed live. This allows you to see a different perspective as you can the the ripples in the water, and the way that the different sediments color the water and create unique layers and patterns which look like an abstract painting.
One of my favorite things about these rivers is that they are never the same. you can visit the same river at different times, and you will see different patterns and colors.
