2025 from snow melt to fall freeze was challenging to keep crops alive and pests managed in many fields. Early spring revealed big overwintered weeds; in-season had new weeds emerge and common weeds that the “same old control” didn’t quite do the job. Spring also brought nasty May long weather that caused crusting/emergence issues and damage on already emerged crops. Summer was days of off/on smoke, excess rain in some place, too little in others; leading to questions if fungicide use was needed in some areas and some resulting big disease issues in others. Sprinkle in a few bertha armyworms hot spots and the growing season stayed busy for agronomists and farmers. Even 2025 may have not been straight forward for crop management, it did provide new learning opportunities to plan for 2026.
