Emergency protection of potato shoots from frost

This has been a cold spring with some frosty nights, we thought we were safe and now they have just forecast some more cold nights with temperatures going down to as low just 1C which could damage all the lovely fresh green shoots of our potatoes in pots as part of the school potato competition.
Roger needs to act quickly as he will not be back in the school for a couple of days and has to come up with a cunning plan to provide some protection.
Adding a little extra compost over the leaves may help, but there is already quite a lot of compost in the pots already and the shoots are getting too long / tall now for much more compost ...so, Roger uses some weed-block membrane as a thermal blanket to cover the pots and potatoes.
To be honest, it doesn't look pretty, especially as Roger has to place some old plastic crates on top to stop the blanket from blowing away - but it should do the job!
