Welcome to X-Plane 12, and to a flight requested by a viewer. He asked if I could show Orbx's True Earth scenery, around the Dartford area. I've also managed to finally make Orbx's London City Airport add-on work with their True Earth scenery.
This is in X-Plane version 12.3, and I'm still trying to find the best settings for my set-up. I find the lighting in the sim is quite bright, and tends to wash out some of the detail. I've even tried using the "sunglasses" feature in the "View" menu, but it still doesn't quite cure the problem.
Another issue I'm having is with Vegas, the video processing software I use. The latest update, Version 23, seems to lag quite a bit, during playback in the program. It could be my graphics card is no longer up to the task, so I'll probably be going back to version 22 for a while.
The PC is a Predator Orion 9000, with Intel Core i9-7900X CPU @ 3.30GHz 3.31 GHz running Windows 11; with dual GeForce 1080ti graphics cards, (although only one of the cards is actually used by the system at any one time), and 128gb memory. All the flight sim software, and scenery files, are installed onto a single 1tb solid state drive.
The journey is flown in VR using the Oculus Rift S.
The aircraft is the default Laminar Cessna 172.
While X-Plane is still in development mode, I'm keeping the number of plug-ins I use down to a minimum, and the only ones I'm using at the moment are:
xOrganizer.
AviTab – Used during the actual flight.
Little NavMap – Used to create the flight plan, the flight data log, and the map seen at the start of the video.
X-Camera - for recording the replay. This needs to be disabled during flight in VR.
After the flight, the replay file is saved, and then played back through X-Plane. The video is recorded in 4k at 60fps using GeForce Experience.
The resulting video clips are then edited together in Vegas Pro, and rendered at 60fps in 4K.
The following music files for this video have been used from the Vegas Hub Library:
"Epic Trailer Music"
"The Ascent"
"Songs of the North Winds"
"Gliding in the Sky"
"Ready to Shape the World"
"Remember"
"First Steps"
"Wake"
"Anime"
This is just a bit of fun, and not meant to be taken seriously.
Thank you for watching.
