In celebration of 305 Day, I had the honor of participating in a community Read-A-Thon hosted by Roots Bookstore. During this segment, I read an excerpt from my memoir, Labeled: Ward of the State, which shares my lived experience growing up in the foster care system and the realities many young people face while navigating it.
Moments like this remind me why storytelling matters. When we share our truth, we open the door for healing, awareness, and change.
