Agility is not only about adapting quickly to change, despite what many people think. Speed is in fact one of the parts of the puzzle when it comes to agility, understood as the flexibility to respond to uncertainty. Every company needs it, as part of their response to COVID-19 but also beyond.
In this webinar, Stéphane JG Girod, Professor of Strategy and Organizational Innovation, IMD, and Goutam Challagalla, IMD Professor of Strategy and Marketing, bounce ideas off each other on the topic, using company journeys from Clarins to DBS as examples of agility at work in different ways.
Key areas covered include the different types of tensions to agility, such as being nimble yet stable, simplifying yet respecting certain complexities (such as cultural factors) and balancing surpluses and shortages. Trying to bring in some of the spirit of the startup is a good way to think about it too.
