20th Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Day Celebration Underway in Presence of PM Abiy Ahmed

Ensuring the progress of Ethiopia's independence, inherited through the blood of our fathers, and safeguarding it for this generation is a duty.

Ethiopia is marking the 20th Nations, Nationalities and Peoples Day in Hosaena City of the Central Ethiopia Region, with Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed in attendance alongside senior federal and regional officials.

The event is being observed under the theme “Democratic Consensus for National Unity.” Regional chief administrators, ministers, senior government officials, foreign diplomats and delegates representing Ethiopia’s diverse nations and nationalities are attending the celebration.

Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed is set to address the crowd shortly, where his remarks are anticipated to center on national unity, Ethiopia’s ongoing reform efforts and the significance of democratic consensus in strengthening the federation.

The Day serves as a platform for Ethiopians to strengthen shared values, reinforce common national interests and foster a spirit of unity through diversity. It is also highlighted for its contribution to promoting awareness on federalism and constitutionalism, while encouraging a collective narrative centered on cooperation and mutual respect.

The 20th Nations and Nationalities Day was colorfully celebrated today in the city of Hoseana, in the Central Ethiopia Region, in the presence of Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed and other high-level government officials.

In his remarks on the occasion, Prime Minister Abiy Ahmed poignantly stated, “We need to not only see Ethiopia’s problems but also its potential,” according to Office of the Prime Minister.
