I'd been prolonging restoring this 38B Vauxhall Victor Estate while I tried to seek out a pale yellow close enough in shade to match that of Lesney. I found Hycote's Ford Jasmine Yellow and thought that this was the best I'd manage out of a rattle can. It turned out to be pretty close though perhaps a little rich overall. However, the paint match turned out to be the least of my troubles after some damage I mistakenly inflicted upon the casting.

The casting itself ran alongside the earlier 45A F-Series Vauxhall Victor between its release and 1965. The Estate Car is based on the second generation FB Victor, far removed from the American influenced FA Victor. The FB was built from 1961 to 1964. Both castings shared the same yellow paintwork but the 38B had a plastic interior and an opening boot lid.

I decided to take the paint-free Victor and restore it back to full health, while I did similar with the casting that had been painted over in black except that received some extra touches. Touches that Lesney never added from factory, including door handles, rear bumper trim, and red and orange taillights, complementing the front bumper, headlights and grille treatment they did include.
